TISS Senior Research Associate Eligibility 2026

Educational Qualification (mandatory)

A Master's degree in Social Sciences, Humanities, Development Studies, Education, Management or another relevant discipline, from a recognised university.

Experience (mandatory)

At least 2 years of relevant experience in research or academic project coordination. Experience in higher education or research institutions is preferred.

Preferred

Preference goes to candidates with a PhD or advanced doctoral-level research experience, especially in disciplines relevant to the academic programmes.

Skills Required

• Strong research, analytical and academic writing skills
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Ability to prepare research proposals, project reports, presentations and institutional documents
• Strong project coordination, planning and organisational skills
• Proficiency in MS Office, data management tools and digital collaboration platforms
• Ability to coordinate with faculty, researchers, international partners and administrative teams
• Ability to handle several tasks at once, meet deadlines, and work both independently and in a team

Relaxation

In exceptional cases, the Institute may relax the qualification, experience or age limit. It may also do so for a person who already holds an analogous position in a Government Department, a Research and Academic Institution, or Industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the coordination and implementation of international research projects, programmes and collaborative academic initiatives
• Coordinate with international partner institutions, researchers and stakeholders on project planning, implementation, meetings and academic activities
• Help track project timelines, milestones, deliverables, budgets and documentation
• Keep systematic records, databases and documentation of international research collaborations, academic programmes and project outcomes for institutional reporting and review
• Help develop and maintain institutional systems, processes and databases for managing international collaborations
• Support compliance with institutional policies, partnership agreements, regulatory requirements and reporting procedures
• Carry out research, data collection and analysis for planning, monitoring and evaluating international research projects and academic programmes

Selection Process

• Applications may be shortlisted. Having the prescribed qualification and experience does not by itself guarantee an interview call.
• Shortlisted candidates will be told by e-mail to attend a Personal Interaction (interview) at TISS, Mumbai.
• Documents are verified at the time of the Personal Interview.

Service Conditions

• This is a temporary 1-year contract appointment with a consolidated pay of Rs 65,000/- per month.
• The selected candidate must join within 15 days of selection.
• Candidates who are currently employed must produce a No Objection Certificate from their employer to attend the interview.
• No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.
• The Institute will not answer queries about interview call letters or selection. Canvassing in any form will lead to debarment.
• If an error in the advertisement or recruitment process is found at any stage, even after an appointment order has been issued, the Institute may modify, withdraw or cancel any communication made to candidates.
