About the University

The Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University is located in Patiala, Punjab. The advertisement covers posts at the University and at its Constituent Colleges, Govt. Arts and Sports College, Jalandhar and Guru Nanak Govt. College, Kala Afghana (Gurdaspur). The University's website banner describes Advt. Qualification and Experience

The notice states the eligibility as "A or B". The full conditions are:

• Option A, part 1: an eminent scholar with a Ph.D. degree in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, with published work of high quality and active engagement in research. This needs a minimum of 10 research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals and a total research score of 120 as per Appendix II, Table 2 of UGC Regulations, 2018.
• Option A, part 2: a minimum of ten years of teaching experience in a university/college as Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor and/or research experience at an equivalent level at a University/National Level Institution, with evidence of having successfully guided a doctoral candidate.
• Option B: an outstanding professional with a Ph.D. degree in the relevant/allied/applied disciplines, from any academic institution (not included in A above) or industry. The candidate must have made a significant contribution to the knowledge in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, supported by documentary evidence, and must have ten years' experience.

Candidates should check the official advertisement (Advt. No. 04/2026), including pages 12-13 on the other provisions, for the discipline-specific eligibility of the post.

Age Limit

The upper age limit for direct recruitment to college teaching posts is 45 years for candidates of the General Category. The relaxation for Reserved Categories applies correspondingly, and age relaxation is applicable as per the government rules and regulations as amended from time to time. The notice prints no age cut-off date for this limit.

Pay and Terms

• The reservation policy of the Government of Punjab, as amended from time to time, applies strictly to all advertised positions. The benefits of the reservation policy are given to the domicile of Punjab State only.
• The University reserves the right to fill the advertised position on a contractual basis in lieu of regular/direct appointment. This applies if a candidate found suitable under contractual engagement is deemed more appropriate by the Selection Committee. The University's decision is final and binding.

The fee must be paid online only, through SBI ePay on the Recruitment Portal by net banking, cards or UPI, within the application period. No other payment mode is considered, and the fee once paid is not refunded. A candidate applying for different posts or different campuses must pay a separate fee for each post/campus. The overview on the University page lists the Rs. 1500 fee for SC/ST/BC/EWS/ESM/PWD of Punjab domicile.

2. Pay the application fee online on the portal within the same period.
3. Take the hard copy/printout of the online application form and prepare 04 (four) sets: 01 complete set with self-attested copies of all certificates/testimonials, and 03 additional sets of the online application form printout only.
4. Send the four sets by courier, registered post, or by hand to The Registrar, The Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University, Near Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Bhadson Road, Patiala - 147001, by 9 December 2026.

Important Instructions

• The number of posts advertised is indicative and subject to change. The University may increase or decrease the number of posts, or not fill any or all of them, at any stage without prior notice and without assigning any reason.
• Two deadlines apply: 4 December 2026 for the online application and fee, and 9 December 2026 for the hard copies.
• The upper age limit of 37 years in the notice applies to non-teaching posts and not to this teaching post.
