ICAR-IIHR CHES Senior Research Fellow Recruitment 2026 – Apply Offline

Under the project "Development of DUS Test guidelines for Rambutan (Naphelium lappaceum L.)", the Central Horticultural Experiment Station (CHES), Chettalli, Kodagu, of ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research has invited applications for one temporary Senior Research Fellow post at Rs. 42,000/- + 10% HRA up to 2027-28. The essential qualification is M.Sc. in Agriculture / Horticulture / Botany. Applications must be sent in the prescribed proforma by post and reach the CHES office by 24 November 2026, 5.00 p.m. (email applications are not accepted). The personal interview is on 1 December 2026.

Who Can Apply

• Essential qualification: M.Sc. in Agriculture / Horticulture / Botany.
• Desirable qualification: M.Sc. in Fruit Science. Desirable experience: experience in Fruit Science.
• Age: 35 years for men and 40 years for women. The age cut-off date is not printed in the notice. The application form asks for "Age as on Closing date of Advertisement".
• The degree should have been obtained from an accredited, UGC recognised university.
• Only candidates who can join duty within 15 days of the date of issue of the appointment order need to apply.
• Candidates already pursuing Ph.D. need not apply.

The notice also says "Eligible candidate between the age group of 23-40 years may apply" in its introduction, while the "Other Terms and Condition" section gives 35 years for men and 40 years for women. The post's own limit is given above. No age relaxation is listed in the notice. Candidates should check the official notification for the exact eligibility conditions.

Pay and Tenure

The remuneration is Rs. 42,000/- + 10% HRA up to 2027-28. The position is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project. The period and duration of the scheme is tentative and may change. ICAR/IIHR has no liability for absorption of the appointee at the Institute.

On reporting, the selected candidate has to deposit a sum equal to one month's remuneration as a "refundable caution deposit". No TA/DA is paid to RA, SRF, JRF, YP's, Project Associate and Field Worker attending the interview.

1. Fill in the application in the prescribed proforma ("Application Format", printed with the notice). It asks for personal details, educational qualifications, whether NET qualified, whether pursuing Ph.D., experience and publications. It needs a recent passport size photograph and the candidate's signature.
2. Write the Item No. and the name of the post clearly on the application and on the envelope. The notice says the application is likely to be rejected otherwise.
3. Attach attested copies of the educational / technical qualifications and the experience certificate.
4. Send the application to: Office, Senior Scientist & The Head(I/c), ICAR-Central Horticultural Experiment Station, Chettalli, Kodagu-571 248.
5. Make sure it reaches the office by 24 November 2026, 5.00 p.m. Applications received after the due date, including because of postal delays, will not be entertained.

Selection and Interview

Selection is through a personal interview. The applications received are screened, and only shortlisted candidates face a panel / personal interview. The list of eligible candidates for the interview will be displayed on the ICAR-IIHR website, and no separate call letters will be sent. Any change in selection or the interview schedule will be notified on the Institute's website only.

The interview will be held from 10.00 A.M. onwards on 1 December 2026 at the CHES, Chettalli office. Only candidates whose duly filled applications arrive before the due date are permitted to take part. A wait-listed candidate in the reserve panel may be engaged for another project with the approval of the C.A.

Important Instructions

• Eligible candidates must bring all educational / technical qualification certificates, Date of Birth and experience certificates in original, plus two recent passport size photographs, for verification.
• Candidates without original or provisional educational qualification certificates will not be allowed to attend the interview.
• Candidates who are not present at the Institute campus by 9.00 AM on 1 December 2026 will not be allowed to attend the interview.
• Vacancies may increase or decrease as per the requirement of the Institute.
• The Director, ICAR-IIHR reserves the right to fill all the posts or any of them without assigning any reasons.
• The declaration in the application form says that the candidate has never been punished or debarred from government (central/state) autonomous organisations and ICAR service, and has not been convicted by a court of law for any offence.
