Who Can Apply

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical) or Technology (Electrical) from a university established or incorporated by or under a Central or State Act in India, or any other educational institution recognised as such or declared a deemed university under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.
  • Basic knowledge of computer application as prescribed in the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules 1967.
  • Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both.

Candidates must hold the qualification from a recognised university or institution. A certificate given by a college principal is not accepted in place of the marksheets and degree certificate. Where the university shows no percentage on the marksheet, the candidate must give the formula for calculating it. A degree or experience from a foreign university needs proof of its validity or equivalency in India, within the time limit.

Age Limit

The candidate must be not more than 35 years of age. Age is counted on the last date of online application.

Age Relaxation

Gujarat Government employees who have served for six consecutive months, permanent or temporary, and whose first appointment was within the age limit of the advertised post, get the following. The upper age limit does not apply if experience is sought as a qualification. It also does not apply to an employee appointed to an engineering, medical, agricultural or veterinary degree or diploma post, when experience is not sought. Where experience is not sought, an employee in a cadre from which promotion is possible gets the length of service rendered or a maximum of five years, whichever is less. Employees and officers of the Gujarat Maritime Board get no relaxation where experience is not prescribed. Reserved category candidates who apply for unreserved posts do not get any age relaxation.

Pay Scale

The fee is not refundable under any circumstances. If a candidate applies more than once, the last confirmed application with fee is considered for unreserved candidates.

How to Apply for GPSC Recruitment 2026

  1. Complete One Time Registration (OTR) first. OTR is mandatory, but registering alone does not count as an online application.

  4. Pay the fee if you are a candidate who must pay one, online or by post office challan.
  5. Confirm the application only after checking all details filled in.
  6. Use the "Edit" option to correct mistakes until the last date and time. Do not submit a new application.

The procedure for applying and paying the fee is shown at https://gpsc.gujarat.gov.in/HowtoApplyPay. Do not send a physical copy of the application or any documents to the Commission. Documents are uploaded online later, only by candidates eligible for scrutiny.

Documents named in the notice (to be kept ready; uploaded on gpsc-iass.gujarat.gov.in when the Commission asks):

  • Marksheets of all years/semesters and degree certificates, self-attested.
  • SSC certificate as proof of date of birth.
  • Caste, non-creamy layer (NCL) or EWS certificate, in the prescribed format, for reserved category candidates.
  • Discharge book copy for ex-servicemen.
  • Disability certificate in Form V, VI or VII under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2017, for disabled candidates.
  • No Objection Certificate of the appointing authority for candidates serving with the Central Government, another state government, local self-government institutions, cooperative bodies or an Agricultural Produce Market Committee.
  • Affidavit of not having remarried, for widow candidates.

Selection and Interview

Selection is by a preliminary test followed by an interview. Candidates are called for interview after scrutiny of applications, in order of preliminary test merit.

Preliminary Test

The medium is Gujarati unless the Commission decides otherwise. The test is generally held at Gandhinagar/Ahmedabad, and candidates attend at their own expense. A candidate scoring less than 15% in the preliminary test is not eligible for the interview. A Consent Form and Consent Deposit may be taken for appearing in the exam, with detailed instructions published later. The syllabus is on gpsc.gujarat.gov.in and gpsc-ojas.gujarat.gov.in.

Interview and Final Result

For 4 or more vacancies, the number of candidates called for interview is 3 times the number of vacancies or 20, whichever is higher. The interview carries 100 marks. Final selection is on 50% weight of the preliminary test marks (out of 300) and 50% weight of the interview marks (out of 100): preliminary marks x 50/300 plus interview marks x 50/100. The final result will be published within 10 working days after the interview is completed.

Important Instructions

  • Make only one application for the advertisement. If more than one is made, the last confirmed application is valid.
  • No request to correct an error in a confirmed application is accepted after the online advertisement closes.
  • Candidates must attend every stage of the recruitment process, otherwise candidature is cancelled.
  • Certificates sent physically, by post or by e-mail are not considered, and such candidates are automatically ineligible.
  • Reserved category candidates can apply against unreserved vacancies, but unreserved norms apply to them.
  • A candidate who has ever been disqualified by GPSC, another public service commission or a government body must declare it in the application form; an ongoing disqualification makes the application liable to cancellation.

  • Government employees of Gujarat may apply directly but must inform their department within 7 days of applying.
