Age Limit
Age, qualification and experience are all counted on the date of the walk-in interview or walk-in written test.
Essential Qualifications
Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical):
- A Post Graduate Degree in the relevant subject, including integrated PG Degrees in the relevant subject, or
- for Engineering / IT / CS, a four-year Graduate Degree.
Project Technical Support-III:
- A three-year Graduate degree in the relevant subject / field plus three years of post-qualification experience, or a PG in the relevant subject / field, or
- for Engineering / IT / CS, a four-year Graduate Degree.
Project Officer:
- A Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized University.
- At least 5 years' experience in Accounts / Finance / Administration work.
- Working knowledge of computers and MS-Office.
Office Helper: High school (10th grade pass) or equivalent from a recognized board, and up to 2 years of relevant experience.
The prescribed qualification is a minimum. Having it does not entitle a candidate to selection.
Age Relaxation
Age relaxation is available to Retrenched Government Employees, Departmental Candidates (including projects) and ex-servicemen, under the Central Government's instructions issued from time to time. Experienced and skilled persons also get an age concession equal to the time they have served in research projects.

Selection Process
Selection is by walk-in interview or walk-in written test, as shown in the dates table above. Candidates report to the Principal Investigator at the selection venue:

Being allowed to sit the selection process does not confirm a candidate's eligibility. A selected candidate can still be disqualified at document verification if the essential criteria are not met. The competent authority's decision on selection is final.
Service Conditions
- Period: The offer is for one year at first. It may be extended depending on performance and continued funding for the project.
- Nature of the job: The posts are purely on contract. They give no right to a regular appointment, or to permanent absorption in AIIMS Bhopal or ICMR/DHR.
- End of contract: The contract expires automatically at the end of its period unless both sides agree to renew it. Either side can end it at any time with 30 days' notice or salary in lieu of notice.
- ICMR recruitment: The post continues only as long as the vacancy is not filled through ICMR's central recruitment examination.
- Posting: Staff can be posted anywhere the project needs them, including rural areas and field sites.
- Leave: Leave follows ICMR's leave policy for extramural research projects.
- Accommodation: The Institute does not provide a hostel or any other accommodation.
- Private practice: Private practice of any kind is not allowed.
- Conduct: Staff must follow the Institute's rules of conduct and discipline.
