Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan (OAVS), under the School & Mass Education Department, Government of Odisha, has released Advertisement No. 1/2026 for direct recruitment to 815 regular posts in Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas and Odisha Mining Adarsha Vidyalayas.
The OAVS Recruitment 2026 includes Principal, PGT, TGT, Art Teacher, Physical Education Teacher and Computer Teacher posts. The online application process starts on 12 October 2026 and closes on 11 November 2026 at 5:00 PM.

Reservation Summary
The category-wise vacancy table includes UR, SEBC, SC and ST reservations along with women reservation. The notification also provides 15 vacancies for Ex-Servicemen and 6 vacancies under Sports Person reservation.
PwD reservation includes 9 posts for Blindness and Low Vision, 9 for Hard of Hearing with suitable aids, 7 for Locomotor Disability and 7 for the specified combination of disability categories.
OAVS Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria
A candidate must be a citizen of India, be of sound mind and must not have more than one spouse living.
Odia Language Requirement
Candidates should have passed MIL Odia up to Middle English standard. Candidates who have not passed Odia up to M.E. standard may apply, but they must pass the prescribed Odia examination conducted by BSE Odisha within three years of joining.
OAVS Principal Qualification
Candidates must have:
- Master's Degree from a recognized University with at least 45% aggregate marks.
- B.Ed. prescribed by NCTE from an NCTE-recognized institution affiliated to a recognized University.
- Required administrative/teaching experience as specified below.
The prescribed experience can be fulfilled through any one of the notified routes:
- Holding an analogous post or Principal post in Central/State Government or an Autonomous Organization in the prescribed equivalent pay level.
- Vice-Principal/Assistant Education Officer with combined service of 3 years as PGT and 2 years as Vice-Principal.
- PGT/Lecturer with at least 7 years of regular service in the prescribed grade.
- 10 years combined regular service as TGT and PGT, including at least 3 years as PGT.
OAVS PGT Qualification
For PGT English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics, candidates should have either a 2-year Integrated Post Graduate Course or Master's Degree in the concerned subject with at least 50% marks, or 45% for SC/ST/SEBC/PwD candidates, along with B.Ed.
PGT Computer Science Qualification
Candidates need at least 50% aggregate marks, or 45% for SC/ST/SEBC/PwD candidates, in any one of the following:
- M.Sc. Computer Science / IT
- MCA
- M.E./M.Tech in Computer Science / IT
Proficiency in teaching through Odia and English medium is required. The notification states that for subsequent promotion, the incumbent has to acquire B.Ed. or equivalent degree.
OAVS TGT Qualification
Candidates must have either a 4-year Integrated Degree course in the concerned subject with at least 50% aggregate marks, or 45% for SC/ST/SEBC/PwD, or a Bachelor's Degree in the concerned subjects with the prescribed marks along with B.Ed./3-year integrated B.A. B.Ed. from an NCTE-recognized institution.
All TGT candidates must also have passed OSSTET/OTET Paper-II conducted by BSE Odisha or CTET Paper-II conducted by CBSE, as applicable.
Art Teacher Qualification
Candidates should have a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts/Visual Arts from a recognized University with the prescribed aggregate marks and proficiency to teach in both Odia and English medium.
PET Qualification
Candidates should possess a Degree/Post Graduate Degree in Physical Education such as B.P.Ed./M.P.Ed. from a recognized University/Institution and meet the prescribed percentage requirement. Proficiency in Odia and English medium is required.
Computer Teacher Qualification
Candidates should have the prescribed marks and any one of the following qualifications:
- B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science or IT
- MCA
- M.Sc. IT
- M.Sc. Computer Science
- DOEACC/NIELIT 'B' Level in Computer Science
- BCA
- B.Sc. Computer Science
Competence to teach through English and Odia medium is required.
Important: Candidates holding Special B.Ed. or D.Ed. are not eligible for the posts for which the notification excludes these qualifications.
OAVS Salary 2026
The notification specifies pay levels rather than a separate rupee-wise salary table. Regular employees will also receive Dearness Allowance and other allowances as decided by OAVS from time to time and will be covered under the New Pension Scheme, 2005.
OAVS Application Fee 2026
Applicable bank charges and service tax are additional. The fee must be paid online through SBI e-Pay using the permitted Debit Card or Net Banking methods. Fees paid through Demand Draft, Money Order, Postal Order or cash will not be accepted.
The application fee is non-refundable.
OAVS Age Limit 2026
The cut-off date for determining age is 01 January 2026.
Principal Age Limit
SC, ST, Women, SEBC and eligible Ex-military candidates receive the relaxation specified under applicable rules. SC/ST, Women and SEBC candidates are given 5 years' upper-age relaxation, while PwD candidates receive 10 years' relaxation.
Age Limit for PGT, TGT and Other Teaching Posts
SC, ST, Women and SEBC candidates receive 5 years' upper-age relaxation. PwD candidates receive 10 years' relaxation. Ex-Servicemen age relaxation is governed by the applicable Odisha Government rules.
For teaching posts other than Principal, eligible in-service teachers working under the State Government, Central Government or Autonomous Organizations may receive age relaxation of up to 5 years as specified.
OAVS Selection Process 2026
OAVS selection is based on Computer Based Test, Interview and Performance Test wherever applicable. The online question paper will be bilingual in English and Odia.
OAVS Principal Exam Pattern
The Principal CBT contains 180 questions for 180 marks and has a duration of 180 minutes. There is negative marking of 0.25 mark for every incorrect answer.
Part I is qualifying. Candidates must secure at least 5 marks each in English and Odia and 13 marks in aggregate in Part I for Parts II, III and IV to be evaluated.
The Principal Interview carries 60 marks. Final merit uses 70% weightage for CBT Parts II, III and IV and 30% for Interview.
OAVS TGT Exam Pattern
The TGT CBT is for 200 minutes and carries 200 marks. There is 0.25 negative marking for every wrong answer. Part I is qualifying and is not counted for Interview shortlisting. The Interview carries 40 marks. Final merit gives 70% weightage to Parts II and III of the CBT and 30% to Interview.
OAVS PGT Exam Pattern
The PGT examination follows the same 200-question, 200-minute structure:
- English - 20 questions
- Odia - 20 questions
- Current Affairs - 30 questions
- Reasoning - 30 questions
- Subject Content & Methodology - 100 questions
There is 0.25 negative marking per wrong answer. Interview carries 40 marks. Final merit is based on 70% CBT Parts II and III and 30% Interview.
OAVS PET Exam Pattern
PET candidates take a 200-minute CBT consisting of 40 language questions, 60 Current Affairs/Reasoning questions and 100 subject-related questions. There is 0.25 negative marking for each incorrect answer.
The Interview carries 40 marks. Final merit gives 70% weightage to CBT Parts II and III and 30% to Interview.
Art Teacher and Computer Teacher Exam Pattern
The CBT contains 200 questions for 200 marks and runs for 200 minutes.
