About MANUU
Maulana Azad National Urdu University is a university in Hyderabad where, as per Section 4 of the University Act, the medium of instruction is Urdu. These posts are for the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) at the MANUU Campus, Gachibowli, Hyderabad. The notice refers to the MANUU Headquarters at Hyderabad and other Institutions of the University in the country.
Posts and Eligibility
Total: 5 posts. The notice states that reservation categories are as per Government of India rules, but it does not print a category-wise break-up.
Management
- Essential: "Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA)/PGDBM or a relevant allied discipline with the minimum of 60 percent marks."
- The candidate must fulfil Ph.D./NET (Management) qualification, in accordance with the relevant UGC/AICTE regulations and amendments.
- Desirable: Technology-savvy and proficient in the use of digital teaching tools, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and AI-enabled applications including Generative AI, for teaching, learning and academic content development.
Social Work
- A (i): A Master's degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) in a concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
- A (ii): Besides this, the candidate must have cleared NET conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET. Candidates who are or have been awarded a Ph.D. in accordance with the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments are exempted from NET/SLET/SET.
- Note: NET/SLET/SET is also not required for Masters Programmes in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted by the UGC, CSIR or a similar accredited test.
- OR B: A Ph.D. obtained from a foreign university/institution ranked among the top 500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by QS, the Times Higher Education (THE) or the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
- Desirable: the same technology and digital teaching skills listed for Management.
Education (For B.Ed. Course)
- A (i): Postgraduate degree (viz. Pedagogy of Physical Science and Mathematics) with minimum 55% marks in the discipline relevant to the area of specialization.
- A (ii): Postgraduate degree in Education (M.Ed/M.A. Education) with minimum 55% marks.
- A (iii): Besides these, the candidate must have cleared NET conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similar UGC-accredited test like SLET/SET. Candidates awarded a Ph.D. in accordance with the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments are exempted from NET/SLET/SET.
- OR B: A Ph.D. obtained from a foreign university/institution ranked among the top 500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by QS, THE or ARWU (Shanghai Jiao Tong University).
- Preferable: Pedagogy of Physical Science and Mathematics.
- Desirable: the same technology and digital teaching skills listed for Management.
Ph.D. Holders Registered Before 11 July 2009 (Social Work and Education)
For Social Work and Education, candidates registered for the Ph.D. programme prior to July 11, 2009 are governed by the then existing Ordinances/Bye-laws/Regulations of the awarding institution. They are exempted from NET/SLET/SET, subject to all of these conditions:
- The Ph.D. degree has been awarded in a regular mode.
- The Ph.D. thesis has been evaluated by at least two external examiners.
- An open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate has been conducted.
- The candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D. work, out of which at least one is in a refereed journal.
- The candidate has presented at least two papers based on his/her Ph.D. work in conferences/seminars sponsored/funded/supported by the UGC/ICSSR/CSIR or any similar agency.
The fulfilment of these conditions is to be certified by the Registrar or the Dean (Academic Affairs) of the University concerned.
Knowledge of Urdu (All Posts)
Urdu is compulsory for all teaching posts as a general policy. The candidate should either be from an Urdu medium School/Madarsa, or should have studied Urdu as a subject at X Std., +2/Intermediate or UG level. Alternatively, the candidate may have studied Urdu as one of the subjects at X or XII from Central or State Boards recognized by the Govt. of India, Madrasa Boards of State Government, or NIOS/State Open Schools recognized by the Govt. of India (Ministry of HRD). UG/PG (Urdu), or Urdu as one of the subjects from any UGC recognized State/Central/Private University, is also accepted.
NET and SLET/SET Validity
As per Clause 3.3(I) of the UGC Regulations, 2018, NET or an accredited test (SLET/SET) remains the minimum eligibility for appointment of Assistant Professor wherever provided in those Regulations. SLET/SET is valid as the minimum eligibility for direct recruitment only to Universities/Colleges/Institutions in the respective state. The UGC Gazette Notification dated 31 July 2023 also states that a SLET/SET score is valid only for appointment in respective State Universities/Colleges/Institutions.
Age Limit and Retired Teachers
The notice does not mention a general age limit. Retired teachers (Professors/Associate Professors/Assistant Professors) from Government recognized Institutions below 65 years are also eligible for any of the above disciplines.
Pay and Terms
The monthly remuneration is a salary not exceeding 50,000/- per month as per UGC norms. The engagement is contractual, on a short-term basis and purely temporary. Selected candidates shall be liable to be posted at MANUU Headquarters at Hyderabad or any of the Institutions of the University in the country, depending on the requirements and exigencies of service.

It asks for the post and subject, name, father's name, date of birth/age, category, graduation, post-graduation, Ph.D. and NET details, proof of Urdu qualification, other qualifications, whether you are pursuing a regular course such as M.Phil/Ph.D., teaching experience, addresses, mobile number, email, PAN and Aadhaar numbers. Paste a recent passport size photograph duly signed by the applicant on the form and sign the declaration.
Candidates attend the interview at their own expenses.
Important Instructions
- The number of vacancies is tentative. The University reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of posts at the time of selection if more vacancies arise between the advertisement and the Selection Committee meetings.
- The University reserves the right not to fill any of the vacancies advertised, if the circumstances so warrant.
- Reservation categories are as per Government of India rules.
- The declaration in the Registration Form states that candidature may be cancelled at any stage if anything is found false.
