Age Limit

Candidates must be below 50 years of age on the date of the advertisement, which is 29 October 2026.

Essential Qualification

One of the following:

• Master's Degree in Shipping Management, Maritime Studies, Port and Shipping Management, Maritime Transport, or Logistics and Supply Chain Management, or
• MBA/Post Graduate Diploma in Management with specialisation in Shipping, Maritime Management or Logistics.

Candidates also need considerable field experience in the shipping and maritime transport sector, gained after obtaining their highest qualification.

Desirable Qualification

Preference will be given to candidates with an advanced diploma or degree in Shipping, Maritime Management, Port Operations, Maritime Transport, Logistics or a related field, and to those with published research papers or publications in the relevant field.

Experience

• Minimum 5 (five) years of experience relevant to the job description (mandatory).
• Demonstrated experience in leading teams, managing projects and conducting stakeholder engagement.
• Experience from internships or training will not be counted.
• Preferred: work experience in the transport sector and in implementing programmes.

Knowledge and Skills

• Experience in stakeholder management
• Experience in carrying out research and preparing policy briefs
• Experience in drafting reports and reviewing detailed project reports
• Knowledge of and experience in National/State planning
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Desirable: prior experience with the Government, UN agencies and other international organisations

Language Requirements

Excellent spoken and written English, skills in the State-specific language, and a proven ability to communicate well in a multi-cultural environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain coordination among the UT Planning Department, LKI and NITI Aayog.
• Assist the State Institution for Transformation (SIT) in achieving its objectives in collaboration with NITI Aayog and LKI.
• Evaluate existing strategies, methodologies and systems to improve the socio-economic conditions of the UT.
• Prepare development strategies, sectoral targets, socio-economic goals and the UT Vision@2047, with a roadmap for achieving them.
• Draft policy briefs, presentations and other relevant documents.
• Coordinate with development partners and the technical agencies concerned.
• Support ways to strengthen horizontal and vertical coordination within the Government.
• Work with UT officials to prepare project proposals for the UT Government to implement.
• Assist the UT in strengthening its innovation ecosystem and its monitoring and evaluation ecosystem.
• Create and facilitate cross-learning platforms, and document the SIT's activities and good practices.
• Support the preparation of UT-level, regional and sectoral reports on a regular basis.
• Support regular updates on the UT's progress through the dashboard/portal maintained by NITI Aayog.
• Support the organisation of workshops and other SIT events, including preparing the relevant inputs.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor (Team Leader) in the interest of the Mission.

Service Conditions

• Nature of engagement: purely contractual
• Contract period: an initial period of two years
• Place of posting: Kavaratti, Lakshadweep
• Leave: 18 days in the whole year, plus the holidays listed by the UT of Lakshadweep government
• Reporting: to the supervisor (Team Leader)
