Burdwan Medical College Recruitment 2026 Job Description

The notice prints one set of job responsibilities for the Senior Resident in both disciplines. A Senior Resident of a Department shall function at a hierarchical level above the rank of the Postgraduate student and below the rank of the basic teachers, shall work as per the directions of the visiting staff/faculty members of the Department, and will be responsible for the following.

Patient Care

1. Providing bedside patient care, including history taking, clinical examination and performing appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
2. Maintaining case records and bed history tickets.
3. Ensuring investigation and referrals.
4. Emergency duties round the clock, on shift basis.
5. Daily evening rounds.
6. Sunday rounds.
7. Pre-operative and post-operative care.
8. Scheduling procedures and investigation.
9. Patient discharges.
10. Communication with the patients' parties about the condition of the patient and the line of management/referral/discharges being considered by the visiting staff, and maintaining a written record of each patient's party meeting.
11. Signing death certificates during emergency duties, along with House Staff and Postgraduate students, as applicable.

Managerial

• Ensuring regular performance of duties by Interns, House Staff, Postgraduate students and others.
• Reporting any discrepancy in their duties to the departmental Head/Authorities.
• Maintaining liaison between various Departments for patient care with regard to referrals and investigation.
• Preparing a list of critical patients at the end of each emergency duty shift.
